Do you know there are 7 dimensions of wellness or health?

  • Mental
  • Physical,
  • Social,
  • Financial (occupational)
  • Spiritual,
  • Environmental, and
  • Vocational

All are interdependent & influence each other.

Physical health & mental health are two sides of a coin. For example, depression or stress increases the risk for many types of physical health problems, such as long-lasting conditions like diabetes, heart disease, obesity & stroke. Mental health refers to the state of our social, emotional, and psychological well-being as well.

According to WHO:

Good mental health is when you can:

  • Cope with the normal stresses of life
  • Work productively &
  • Realize you’re potential

It is important to prioritize our mental health even if we are not diagnosed with any concerns.

Have you ever noticed the below symptoms in yourself or in someone?

  • Confused thinking or reduced ability to concentrate
  • Social withdrawal
  • Excessive mood swings
  • Dramatic changes in eating or sleeping pattern
  • Getting addicted to alcohol or other drug use
  • Loss of confidence & presence of mind…..
  • Making no progress in weight-loss efforts

Major reasons for poor mental health

  • Bereavement (losing someone close to you)
  • Unemployment or losing your job
  • Domestic violence, bullying, or other abuse
  • Being Obese (Overweight)
  • Genes and family history
  • Unrealistic goals in life
  • Relationship breakup
  • Not succeed in your aim/goal

India has a high rate of mental health problems; here are a few things you can do every day, no matter your age, to improve your mental health.

Remedies to be fit & fine mentally

  • Give each day some fixed  “Family-Time”
  • Find activities to help you get fit
  • Learning new skills, not qualifications all the time
  • Find out how to volunteer
  • Learn mindfulness (pay attention to present moments )

Apart from the above things, adopt some spiritual habits in life.

  • Wake up early & with a beautiful smile
  • Turn to your right & wake up
  • Take a shower/bath immediately before you go to bed. It not only cleans dirt from your body but your mind from it.
  • Always try to recall your whole day while sleeping. Try this. Not easy as it feels. You will automatically realize your bad habits, behavior, people’s intentions, etc. Every night you adopt this habit. In a short time, you’ll find many changes in your sharpness, your behavior, your efforts, etc. The result will be so positive & strong.
  • Also, try to do 1 day of fasting a week. If not possible, try 1 fasting day every other week, which means 2 times a month. Fasting has many health & spiritual benefits. It has a direct connection with your brain and means your mental health. Try it & see the tremendous change in your decision-making, controlling your anger, calmness, etc.
  • Last but not least, practice YOGA. YOGA not only works physically but majorly it works mentally. That is the reason it has a strong & lasting effect on your mind & body.
